Succow Foundation and Turkmen NGO “Mert” sign Memorandum of Understanding

With the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), the Succow Foundation and the Turkmen NGO “Mert” have formalised a long-term partnership in nature conservation.

The partnership aims to foster the exchange of expertise and the joint development of projects in the fields of protected area management, ecosystem restoration, sustainable land use, climate change adaptation, and environmental education. In addition, joint research activities, as well as the exchange of scientific data and best practices, will further strengthen the partnership.

The NGO “Mert” is already supporting the implementation of the ongoing IKI project One Health for Nature Conservation in Central Asia, particularly by contributing to capacity building for protected area administrations in Turkmenistan.

The Memorandum of Understanding provides the framework for the development of further joint initiatives and will initially remain in force for a period of five years.

It is the first Memorandum of Understanding the Succow Foundation has concluded with a non-governmental organisation in Turkmenistan, marking an important milestone in strengthening nature conservation cooperation in Central Asia.
