UNESCO Tentative List Update and World Heritage advancement

The Government of Georgia plans to update its UNESCO Tentative List in preparation for the nomination of unique landscapes, thereby expanding the country's list of Natural and Mixed World Heritage Sites.

In particular, the Batsara and Vashlovani Protected Areas are being assessed for their potential eligibility. By providing technical guidance and international expertise in planning, field missions, workshops, stakeholder engagement, assessments, and the final selection of sites for nomination as Natural or Mixed World Heritage Sites, the Michael Succow Foundation (MSF), in cooperation with the Caucasus Nature Fund (CNF), supports the State Party of Georgia.

The Foundation's support helps national authorities take ownership of the nomination process and strengthens their role and capacities for a successful Preliminary Assessment and subsequent nomination in 2027–2028.
