Workshop to improve connectivity of Bukhara deer habitat in Uzbekistan with potential transboundary movement

On the basis of a Programme of Work (PoW) drawn up by the Secretariat of the Convention on Migratory Species (CMS), the Federal Agency for Nature Conservation (BfN) is supporting the implementation of the Central Asian Mammals Initiative (CAMI).

In Continuation of the Bukhara Deer Memorandum (MoU) and the Bukhara Deer Programme of Work (PoW) 2025–2032, a regional workshop will take place in Urgench, Uzbekistan, in autumn 2026, organised and supported by the Michael Succow Foundation.

The aim is to develop a plan to improve habitat connectivity for the Bukhara deer (Cervus hanglu bactrianus), which, if necessary, will also include the translocation of animals, determine the associated funding requirements and draw up a project proposal to secure the resources needed to implement the measures.
