Persian Leopard got listed in the Red Book of Kazakhstan

... and thus receives an increased protection status

Since 2018 Persian leopards were regularly observed in the Ustyurt state nature reserve in Kazakhstan with the support of camera traps. The Succow Foundation together with national and international experts supported - in the frame of the CADI project - the elaboration of an action plan for the conservation of this rare species. It is pending adoption by the government of Kazakhstan.
Now, since April 5th, 2021 the Persian Leopard got finally listed in the Red Book of Kazakhstan. Until now one could kill a leopard without expecting serious consequences. Now it is a criminal offence.
