Succow Foundation becomes founding partner in the Biosphere Reserve Institute

Yesterday, the Michael Succow Foundation, the Eberswalde University for Sustainable Development (HNEE) and the Nationale Naturlandschaften e. V. signed partnership agreements on the city campus of the HNEE in Eberswalde for further cooperation in the succession of the biosphere.centre. All three contracting parties now contribute their competences to the Biosphere Reserve Institute (BRI).

Jan Peters, Managing Director of the Succow Foundation, very much welcomes the closing of ranks: "This partnership will strengthen the science-based and practice-oriented institute, which can devote itself to biosphere reserves with combined forces. In its daily work, the Succow Foundation is committed to the worldwide establishment and further development of biosphere reserves and is an implementation partner for these sustainable places of learning in the BRI."

The BRI is an interdisciplinary centre of excellence at Eberswalde University of Applied Sciences, Ana Filipa Ferreira is the new managing director. The main focus is on UNESCO's "Man and the Biosphere" programme with its biosphere reserves, which are model regions and learning sites for sustainable human development with and as part of nature. For this purpose, the institute includes the international Master's programme Biosphere Reserves Management, a research training group and a research group on sustainable model regions.

While the HNEE covers the area of teaching and research, the Succow Foundation contributes its know-how in practical implementation, especially in the international field.
